First Post/Welcome

Welcome to my blog dedicated to researching Bigfoot/Sasquatch in Eastern North Carolina. This is a work in progress so come back often to see whats new! I have decided to create this blog for several reasons. The first is to encourage people to report sightings of Bigfoot in North Carolina, specifically east of I-95.  The second is to reach out to other researchers to work towards a common goal.  And to share my research with others.  I have been interested in Bigfoot ever since I was a young kid and I have logged many hours reading books and researching online.  And now I want to pursue field research as well.

Many people only associate the Bigfoot phenomenon with the Pacific Northwest however, sightings of this elusive creature have been reported in every state except for Hawaii.  According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization(BFRO) there are only 76 sightings listed for the state of North Carolina on their public online database.  North Carolina has a unique terrain with mountains in the western part of the state, foot hills in the Piedmont(central region), and flat lands of the eastern part of the state. The state is also heavily forested and has vast swamps with abundant amounts of wildlife.  There are also many state/national parks and national forests that would support a creature such as Sasquatch.

One might ask: Why Eastern North Carolina? And my response would be that I have spent my entire life living in Eastern NC and have logged many hours of my short life hunting, fishing, and camping in many different places in East NC.  I also believe that sightings of these creatures occur more frequently than there are reports submitted on online databases due to fear of ridicule for coming forward and most people do not know who to turn to after an encounter.  I myself have never had an encounter myself, but I have talked with several people over the years who have and I am convinced that they could live in this part of the state.  I want to encourage anyone that feels like they have had an encounter in Eastern North Carolina to submit a report to me and to also submit a report to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.  I will respond as quickly as I can and I will respect the privacy of anyone that contacts me.  Keep in mind that I am only one person and not a large research organization. I am not a member of the BFRO, but they have far more resources than I do and I believe that any information relating to Bigfoot research should be shared!

If you wish to contact me feel free to do so.  I also want to encourage readers to post comments.  However I am a family man and I ask that you keep any comments, concerns, or suggestions PG.  The Bigfoot community can be harsh and I believe that we should work together and not against each other. Thanks for visiting and please stop buy often to see whats new!

Thanks!

  1. Hi there. I am going to bookmark your site. I am in Clayton in Johnston County. I am about 1/2 mile from Neuse River. I have not done any field work but I have researched this since about 2008. I have read about 90% of the BFRO reports, listen to the Bigfoot Tonight Show (blogtalk radio), Tom Biscardi's Bigfoot Live Show, follow several researchers on youtube (Scott Carpenter, Fasano, Mark in Colorado and a few others). If you pull up google earth and look at Johnston County, there is a huge green area on the map (Neuse River, flood plain) east of I-95, south of US 70, and west of the Wayne County line. There are several flood plain branches that feed into this large area, running north to south. My in-laws have a large farm at the edge of one of these branches in the vicinity of Brogden Road, and this flood plain area drains to the south to the river. Someday, I plan to make go in there and look around. My mother-in law tells a bigfoot story from the late 60s in that area. She graduated in 1968, and she says this was while she was in high school. The Patterson Gimlin film was taken in 67 so I don't know when this was shown to the public- if the film caused a lot of rumors and panic at the time. If the film was released after 1968, then maybe the film did not influence this report. The timing is suspect. Anyway, she says there was a report of a bigfoot in the vicinity of where one of these flood plain branches crosses US 70 (near Steves Chapel Road and US 70). She says the community was scared, and everyone locked their doors. She said a foot print was found, and that she heard someone shot the bigfoot in the hand with a .22. She was not a first-hand witness so this story may or may not be true. But when I looked the general location on google earth, I noticed it was near a flood plain that feeds down into the larger Neuse River swamp.

  2. We are leaving today to camp at the cliffs of the neuse. My daughter in law and I heard howling last year. 3 moans in the distance. Very creepy and exciting.
